Roubaix Lake

Roubaix Lake

Roubaix Lake (pronounced “row bay” is at elevation 5,500ft) is another great Black Hills Lake.  It is located about 20 minutes south of Deadwood on Hwy 385.

It has a nice sandy beach and some day use picnic areas.  It also has loads of camping spots for tents or RVs.

There is fresh water for drinking, but the only facilities are vault toilets.  There is firewood available for purchase.  The 56 campsites all have a fire ring and picnic tables.

What is it like

It can get pretty chilly at night here even in the summer, so bring plenty of blankets and warm clothes.  It is off the main road a few miles so it has a very secluded feel.

As you can see in the photo, the lake is small.  No motorized boats are allowed, but is great for canoes or kayaks.

The area is beautiful and you may even spot a Wood Lily if you are lucky.

Camping at Roubaix Lake

This is a favorite campground of my family.  The lake is great for the kids to go swimming and with 56 campsites you are bound to find the perfect spot.  There is a host there in the summer selling firewood.
