Pactola Lake

Pactola Lake or sometime call Pactola reservoir, is the largest of the Black Hills Lakes.  It has a surface area of about 800 acres.  It is a popular lake for fishing and boating.

Location Pactola Lake is located along Hwy 385, 28 miles south of Deadwood SD or about 20 miles west of Rapid City SD. History The lake is named after the town that was submerged when the reservoir was created.  Pactola was an old mining camp.

Access There are many access points around the lake.  The Pactola visitors center is right of Hwy 385 and is where the above photo was take.  There are also other well marked spots around the lake.  Jenney Gulch is a popular picnic area and access point.   To find Jenny Gulch, just take the Silver city road until you see the sign.  Black Hills area photos and Videos
