From Rapid City, take I-90 west to exit 30 at Sturgis, continue on Hwy 14A (boulder canyon) to Deadwood. Total trip one way is about 50miles.
From Spearfish, take I-90 east to exit 17. Continue on US hwy 85. Take a right on to Main St (which is also Hwy 85) and you’ll be at the First Gold, it is just a 15 mile trip from Spearfish.
The Deadwood trolley stops at this hotel. On the trolley you can take a ride to the historic downtown area of Deadwood. On a nice day you could walk to the historic downtown, but the trolley stops at the casino every 20 minutes and is a great way to see HistoricDeadwood SD.
Right across the street is the beginning of the Whitewood Creek Trail. The rodeo grounds and Days of 76 Museum are also just across the street.
You’ll have a front row seat for many of Deadwood’s parades right out side your hotel. My favorite is the Days of 76 parade
